IMPRESSIVE DEBUT OF NARAIN KARTHIKEYAN AND STARBEAST MOTORSPORTS

March 27, 2010. Narain Karthikeyan survived his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race in Martinsville Speedway ½ mile oval. The “paper clip” was the first challenge for Narain Karthikeyan and Starbeast Motorsports, it will be remembered in history as the first time an Indian driver raced in a NASCAR sanctioned event.
The goal of team and driver was to get seat time and experience what NASCAR racing is all about. Against all predictions, Narain ended the day with a 13th place finish on the lead lap.
Karthikeyan started 11th and by lap 20 was already in 31st position. His first words on the radio were: “They are eating me alive!” As the race progressed he got into a rhythm and turned some really good and consistent lap times.
Learning the racing line and most importantly getting used to race with 35 other Trucks in a ½ mile oval was really the goal.
“We are very proud of Narain´s result today in Martinsville. We could see clearly that Narain has the skills and talent to drive in NASCAR. Our goal is to provide all the resources and tools possible for his development. We understand that the goal of getting to Sprint Cup in 2012 is not easy, but we absolutely love our project and are committed and determined to build our team and get the support needed to get there. We are hungry of achieving great things” said Miguel Abaroa from Starbeast Motorsports.
